IGI Certification
Independent grading. Verified quality.
Confidence in every detail.
Independent grading
Understanding your diamond begins with knowing exactly what you are choosing.
An independent diamond grading report provides a detailed assessment of your diamond's characteristics, allowing you to understand and verify the qualities of the stone selected for your Zavelli piece.
The laboratory
What is IGI?
The International Gemological Institute is an independent gemological laboratory that evaluates and documents diamonds, gemstones and jewellery. IGI diamond reports identify whether a diamond is natural or laboratory grown and record characteristics used to describe its quality.
Understanding your report
The 4Cs
The internationally recognised characteristics used to describe and assess a diamond.
Carat
The recorded weight of your diamond.
Colour
The assessment of the diamond's colour characteristics.
Clarity
An assessment of internal and external characteristics.
Cut
Evaluation of craftsmanship and proportions where applicable.
Depending on the report type, additional information may include shape and cutting style, measurements, polish, symmetry, fluorescence, proportions, inscription details and laboratory-grown diamond information.
Your diamond's identity
Laser Inscription
A microscopic link to your grading report.
An IGI report number can be laser-inscribed on the diamond's girdle. Viewed under magnification, this inscription allows the diamond to be matched with its corresponding grading information.

Clearly identified.
Independently assessed.
IGI reports identify laboratory-grown diamond origin and document relevant grading characteristics. Where applicable, information relating to the growth process and treatments may also be recorded within the grading report.
The Zavelli standard
Beyond the certificate.
A grading report provides the technical characteristics of a diamond. At Zavelli, we also consider the beauty of the individual stone — including its proportions, brilliance, visual balance and overall appearance — when selecting a centre diamond for your piece.
